The CBD Brand that Actually Does What It Says

CBD is having a moment and CBD brands are everywhere right now. But with so many options, it can be tough to know what to look for – and which brands actually follow through on their claims.

That’s where CBDistillery sets itself apart. For the past decade, all of CBDistillery's products have been made with non-GMO, US-grown industrial hemp and with 100% clean ingredients – no corn syrup or artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners.

They frequently introduce new and innovative products formulated to meet a variety of wellness needs and customer preferences. And every single batch of CBDistillery’s gummies, oil tinctures, topicals and softgels are tested by an independent, accredited lab to make sure what’s in the package matches what’s on the label.

Right now, CBDistillery is offering our readers a special deal: save 50% on orders of $75 or more with code AUGUST50!

A Personal Affront, Reported Faithfully
X sent a legal takedown demand this week to Nitter, a small open-source project that let people read X posts without logging in or being tracked, giving it until five o'clock that day to shut down every instance and hand over its code. The letter accuses Nitter of unlawfully scraping X's data and circumventing its systems. X is a platform that built its entire early business model on people being able to freely pull posts out of it, and spent years functioning as the internet's default source of embeddable, screenshot-able, endlessly re-shared public commentary. Nitter's creator posted that development has stopped and he is seeking legal advice. A company built on other people's content just legally threatened a volunteer for reading its content back to people. I have never once sued someone for looking at something I put on my own front lawn.

Today's News, Ranked By How Much It Ruined My Mood
🔥 Most Enraging
A slab of Greenland's Petermann Glacier about the size of Manhattan finally broke free this month after satellites spent weeks watching cracks spread across it, in the glacier's biggest calving event since 2012. Scientists say two even larger pieces could still follow. An island of ice, roughly the size of an entire borough, just detached and started drifting. I have never once lost a piece of myself that large without at least noticing immediately.
😩 Most Exhausting
India's Asiatic lion population in the Greater Gir region grew from five hundred twenty three animals in 2015 to eight hundred ninety one in 2025, a seventy percent increase in a decade, driven mostly by years spent rebuilding the deer and wild pig populations the lions actually eat. Lions once gone from an entire sanctuary are now living there again on their own, seventeen of them, for the first time since the eighteen hundreds. Seventy percent more lions, because someone spent a decade thinking about deer. I have never once solved a problem by patiently fixing something two steps removed from it, though I am told that is usually where the actual problem is.
😤 Unreasonably Annoying
NASA researchers found that some Earth microbes carried to the moon by astronauts could survive for a while in cold, shadowed pockets near the lunar south pole, with one particularly tough fungus holding up best of all. There is no evidence anything could actually grow there, since the moon still lacks the water and conditions needed, but the microbes do not need to grow to be a problem, only to survive long enough to confuse the next mission looking for pristine lunar chemistry. We already brought life to the moon by accident. I have also brought something somewhere by accident and immediately regretted it, though mine was a smell, and it stayed in one room.
🤷 Somehow Also Happening
Apple released a new Mac Mini this week built around its latest chip, starting at eight hundred ninety nine dollars, which is apparently the going rate for a slightly faster box. Eight hundred ninety nine dollars. For a box. I still own a calculator from the nineteen nineties that has never once needed a version number.
❖   And Some Other Stuff   ❖
Briefly, And With Limited Enthusiasm
People who live past 110 have unusually large numbers of rare cancer-killing immune cells — Researchers studying people who live past a hundred and ten found they tend to carry unusually large numbers of a rare immune cell that is especially good at killing off abnormal cells before they become a real problem. People that old have a specialized internal security team. I have a smoke detector that chirps at three in the morning for no reason, and that is the extent of my body's early warning system.
A new catalyst turns stubborn plant waste into valuable chemicals — Scientists built a catalyst using single atoms of ruthenium that can break down lignin, the tough structural material that makes up over a third of plant waste, into useful industrial chemicals under fairly mild conditions. A substance plants use to stay rigid and impossible to digest, cracked open by rearranging a few atoms. I remain, personally, un-crackable by mild conditions or anything else attempted so far.
A mother coyote chased a bear away from a Los Angeles home to protect her pup — A Los Angeles homeowner's security camera caught a mother coyote repeatedly charging at a black bear outside his driveway at two thirty in the morning to keep it away from her pup, until the bear gave up and left. A coyote. Chasing off a bear. To protect her kid. I have raised two children and never once had to personally intimidate a bear on their behalf, mostly out of luck.
I'll be here tomorrow. Unfortunately.
